What is a CSA?
A CSA is a special relationship between a farmer and their customers. The farmer gets much needed capital at the beginning of the season to help pay for seeds, labor and supplies. We also get regular contact with people with whom we can share cooking tips, hear what veggies you enjoyed most and what you may like to see more of in the future. CSA members have a closer relationship with where their food comes from and get to experience the seasonality of food production while also getting access to fresh local produce all season long, as well as getting 10% more value for their subscription price.
How our CSA works
The Pickup will be at the Rosendale farmers market and you choose the subscription size that best works for you, either the $100, $200, $300 or $400 share. You get a card (like a gift card) with the amount of money you picked plus we add 10%. For example, if you paid $200, you get a gift card with $220.
After that it is very simple, you come to the farmers market whenever you wish, pick out the items you would like to purchase that week, and hand us the card. We add up your total and swipe the card which removes the purchase price from the card total. You can still come by every week if you like, but if you can’t make it, you don’t lose anything. If you are on vacation for 3 weeks and then come by and purchase $60 worth of tomatoes with your share, you can do that. This way, you can choose when you come by and exactly what you are getting. The only catch is that you need to use up all the money during the season in which the card was purchased. This year the season runs from June 6th through October 31st.
Also, if you use up all the money on your card, you can add more and still get the added 10%.
To get your card, just come to the farmers market and we will have it waiting for you.
What do we offer?
We are growing more than 40 different vegetables and herbs this year with over 100 different varieties. There will undoubtedly be lots of varieties that you have never tasted before. We also grow flowers, offering bouquets weekly once the flower season gets underway. We also making maple syrup again this season. All of which you can bring home to enjoy once you are a member of our CSA.
